Our First Annual Regenerative Medicine IGEP Retreat was in VA-MD Vet Med's June Vital Signs!

June 10, 2014 - The Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program (IGEP) in Regenerative Medicine held its first Research Retreat on May 19, 2014 at Mountain Lake Lodge in nearby Giles County. Nearly 40 IGEP students from the Colleges of Engineering, Business, and Veterinary Medicine attended, including representatives from the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg. The aim of the retreat was to foster expanded research collaborations among faculty working in the various aspects of biology, engineering, business, and ethics, and to strengthen the identity of regenerative medicine as a discipline at Virginia Tech. The day included a series of presentations from each lab and ended with a student poster session and an informal opportunity to discuss research and explore possible collaborations. IGEP faculty welcomed several guests, including Matt Hull of the Virginia Tech Institute for Creative Technologies and Applied Sciences, Dr. Jean Clarke of the Fralin Life Sciences Institute, and Dr. David Hodgson, Dr. Roger Avery, and Dr. Cyril Clarke from the veterinary college.
